Dakota smiled at her as she came up behind her, and spun around to face her.
"I'm alright, thank you though, I ate a fish before you arrived. But if you are hungry, I can wait well you hunt and eat."
Dakota grinned and watched as Raina sat down to watch. Slowly, Dakota stumbled out into the field. She found a rabbit quickly, and took off in hot pursuit. The hare raced quickly, faster and faster, and Dakota tripped. She was up quickly, but the hare was in it's hole already. She continued this failed hunting as she rushed around the field, running, but never caught one. Finally, she padded back to Raina, glum. She sat down in front of her.
the past is a wonderful place to visit, but not to stay
When Dakota first started the hunt, a surprised expression was upon Rainas' face. Then returned to normal as she started to strantegise an easy way for Dakota to catch one. By the final try, she had perfected it, when the brute came and sat before her, Raina spoke with a clear voice.
"Would you like help?" Her voice held no mockery, only kindness and the want to help.
She sat tall, barely reaching Dakotas' shoulder with the tips of her ears, but held a state of knowledge. The sun was beating down on the field, the heat would start to make the rabbits tired and lazy, the prime time to hunt them. With this in mind Raina gracefully stood up, and looked for her target, still waiting for Dakota's reply.
"Umm.. ya. I'm sorry. I can't hunt,"Raina smiled at Dakota, her blue eyes held kindness.
"That's alright, I have a horrible sense of smell" She smiled again at Dakota.
With that she slowly krept into the opens field, spotting a rabbit she slid soundlessly into a large portion of grass, disappearing from sight. After a moment the rabbit came out of it's hole, thinking it's safe. Although the moment is right, Raina doesn't attack, before she does, she had seen baby bunnies with the mother. Slipping out of that patch of grass, she moves on to the next target, a larger male bunny, without a sound, Raina creeps up behind it, killig it as painlessly as possible.
Standing, Raina walks over with the rabbit in her mouth and drops it at Dakota's paws. She takes a step back and gracefully sits down. "Do you think that's enough? Or will you want another?" Her voice polite and tender.
Dakota's confession was sure to leave Raina running for the hills, but instead, she smiled. "That's alright, I have a horrible sense of smell" Dakota's magnificent brown orbs widened, and she grinned. Her grin wasn't rude, or mean, but instead showed that she was fine with that. Her mind spun faster than a deer's legs could move. Why was she so kind? Why wasn't she like the rest? What did Raina find in Dakota? Raina broke her trance as she slid soundlessly into the field.
Dakota watched enthusiastically as Raina hid in a small patch of grass, waiting. The hare slipped out of the hole. Dakota felt anticipation rising in her chest, when suddenly, little baby rabbits climbed out behind the hare. Dakota watched in awe as Raina turned away, killing a male rabbit instead. She drops it at Dakota's feet, and and sits back easily. "Do you think that's enough? Or will you want another?" Dakota watched her, listening to her soft and polite voice. Dakota smiled.
"This will be fine. Thank you," She casually bent over and took a large bite, realizing she was famished, she finished the whole rabbit in less than a minute. She smiled apologetically at Raina, and then stood up. She motioned for her to follow, and began to move through the grass, through the field and to the other side. She emerged into the trees again, and continued. They had a little bit of a travel ahead. "How long have you been around these parts?" Dakota asked Raina, swivelling her head around to look at the pretty maiden behind her.

Raina smiled at Dakota, and watched as he ate the whole rabbit in less than a minute, she watched his lips move up as his teeth became bare and sunk into the rabbit. The sun shone off of his coat making him seem like he had an angelic glow. A smile spread across her maw, it was as if her mother was giving Raina her blessings.
They started off again, an odd pair, one extremely large and clumsy, the other graceful and petite. Raina had to walk quickly to keep up with Dakota's large strides, she looked sidelong at the brute, watching his muscles beneath his dark coat. "I haven't really lived here that long, I wandered around a bit, mostly lost, but when I found the stream it was easy to know where I was, so I made a little den." she blushed slightly, realizing she was rambling, "Probably two or three weeks."
Continuing to walk beside the large brute, Raina looked up when she heard birds singing a soft melody, it gave her an urge to sing. Something she hadn't done since her mother died. A surge of pain washed over her, but when she looked over at Dakota again, it was replaced by a wave of happiness, another smile appeared on her maw. Why was she so happy?
The two strange figures travelled through the trees, talking quietly amongst themselves. Dakota looked at Raina as she answered, staring lovingly into her eyes. "I haven't really lived here that long, I wandered around a bit, mostly lost, but when I found the stream it was easy to know where I was, so I made a little den. Probably two or three weeks." Her voice was so musical, so soft to Dakota's ears. Dakota watched as Raina's expression changed to embarrassment, and then again to joyful and pleased. Dakota's eyes never left her face, even as they walked.
"Hm. Where did you come from?" She asked Raina, her voice soft, although always deep. It was weird for Dakota to be like this, to actually pay attention and enjoy talking, and listening to someone. She watched Raina's face the whole time.
the past is a wonderful place to visit, but not to stay
Raina thought for a moment, the memories came flooding back, a deep, enchanting forest, a den made of rock, her mother singing as her father played with her.
"I come from the forest area to the East" another blush rose, "Not the Emerald Forest, but farther back." Her voice musical, it danced through the breeze. "What about you, where's your home land?"
A gasp escaped her lips as Raina saw the looming mountains in the distance. They were beautiful! As if preserved in time, her eyes lit up and her pace quickened. Joy filled her, the way the light blue of the sky deepened as it touched the mountains' tips, the cold breeze that blew off of them. It was mesmerizing, her head turned back towards Dakota, then back to the mountains, speechless.
Beautiful didn't seem to cut it, Raina searched her vocabulary for a match on what she was seeing. Thinking for a moment, a smile appeared on her tainted brown maw as she selected a good enough fit. It was liking placing a puzzle together, if you didn't get it right, you had to start over and search through the remaining pile again and again until you got it right.
"It's breath taking" her voice low, and airy. Her gaze was glued to the scene infront of her, as if it was fly paper and she was a fly.
Dakota continued to watch Raina, her mind always amazed. The way her lithe little body moved, weaved through the forest, in contrast to the way Dakota's bulky torso moved and stumbled over branches and rocks. Dakota listened carefully to Raina's answer. "I come from the forest area to the East, not the Emerald Forest, but farther back," Her voice was soft and musical, something that reminded Dakota of the birds, or the breeze. She smiled softly. "What about you, where's your homeland?" Raina's voice weaved into Dakota's memory, and Dakota smiled.
"I come from a land way West from here, where maidens were slaves, brutes the kings," Dakota shuddered at the memory, and finally, for the first time in awhile, pulled her stare from Raina's perfect face. Instead, she looked at the mountains that were moving closer to them, the setting, orange sun tipping off the beautiful white peak. Dakota took a deep breath, smelling the forest, and the approaching smell of the mountains. She smiled. Her home. She heard Sacred say something, but it was drowned out by Dakota's thoughts. Not intentionally, but instead, she was just happy. "That's where we're headed," she murmured, and smiled, looking at Raina to see her bewildered expression. Dakota chuckled.

the past is a wonderful place to visit, but not to stay
"I come from a land way West from here, where maidens were slaves, brutes the kings,"
Rainas' eyes widen, a gasp escapes her mother. "That's horrible." Her voice small. Raina watched as Dakota shuddered at the thought. Now there is a true gentleman, she thought, she was becoming more fond of him as the conversation coontinued.
"That's where we're headed,"Dakota nodded towards the mountains.
She couldn't take her eyes off of them, it was such a beautiful view. The excitment buzzed through Raina, and her speed increased. As she hurried towards their destination, she looked over at the kind brute walking beside her, he seemed happy to talk to her, she felt comfortable around him, as if she were able to tell him anything and he wouldn't judge her, and the same went for whatever Dakota would say to her. She smiled kindly over at him and then her gaze once again focused on the mountains ahead.
There was a small gasp that escaped Raina's maw as she spoke of her past land, a land she refused to call home. She focused on the mountains as well, and immediately sped up, racing faster and faster until she was running. A shiver ran up the knights spine as her paws lightly touched the hard, rocky surface. She began to run faster, forgetting about Raina. Snow was appearing, and Dakota continued to run, faster, faster. She was hurrying. What would happen when she reached the border? The Alphesse would be called, as it appeared the Alpha disappeared. Her long legs stretched out further and further, as she rushed to her home. They would call, and Raina and Dakota could be packmates. They could enjoy each other for as long as they would like. That would be the end of it.
the past is a wonderful place to visit, but not to stay
As if forgetting about Raina's presence, Dakota took off running gaining speed with each stride. Raina paused for a moment as if frozen, Why had he left? Did I say something? Shrugging it off as him playing around, Raina started to sprint, her petite frame was graceful and agile. With each second, she gained speed and became closer and closer to the hulking brute. Furrowing her brow in determination, she turned on the burners and shot up beside the large knight. A smile spread along her maw, she turned her head and looked at the male. He seemed lost in thought, focused on the mountains, in his own world, however you put it, Dakota definatly wasn't focused on the present.
The closer they came to the mountains the more excited she got to see Dakota's home, her gitters sent a shiver down her spine and a spark in her eyes. Raina felt more open and bubbly around this brute, she was coming out of her shell and it felt great to her. With a smile she picked up speed inching ahead of the knight, hoping to bring a little competition to the run.
