Neither rhyme nor reason was behind this visit and yet bright copper paws were treading fast as if with purpose toward a fine destination. Her features were slack betraying a sort of excitement that was building in her chest propelling the small frame of Asdiza onward. She swayed with the rhythm of her pace and the long tassel moved with this motion as well touching tender bark of the trees and caressing the first exposing of grasses. Slush was beneath her feet and against her pads she felt the warmth of new season within the mud. It was a refreshing sense that allowed her to breath in deeply the spring on the air; it flowed so gently and evenly into her nostrils. One would be a fool not to appreciate it.
She could smell fresh water and newly grown foliage; they flowed across her features effectively rendering her mood calm. Pastel yellow orbs moved across the land focusing on the butterflies that flapped their wings and played with the flowers. She noticed the moss that climbed upward across the bark of the trees, climbing as if a creature that could plainly see. In the distance there were birds pecking at the ground, searching through the melting mounds of white for something to eat. As she moved onward the sound of a waterfall flowed softly into her ears and she leapt forward into a fast pace.
She moved with the regality of an equine, her speed unmatched when she was alone. Her ears swivelled at the new sounds of spring but she focused mostly on the falls in the distance. Their gentle sound was the only thing that beckoned her forward.
Reaching the beaches that lined this place the sound was increased tenfold. The deafening sound of falling water only did to rid thoughts of family from her head and as she lowered her maw to the flowing insipid she saw a reflection of herself staring back. The waves did well to distort her view and yet still it was complete, the white tufts along her cheeks and the copper that stained her ears but most of all those buttery blonde eyes that appeared to glow in this light. Her reflection stirred a memory that she could not force back despite how hard she tried.
“Diza…you must wake up.” Gentle was this voice but also quite meek rendering the speech fearful. Asdiza started upward and faced her pack-sister furrowing her brows and shaking her head to distract her from sleepiness.
“What is it?” Asdiza asked and her voice was weary as if perhaps she had been sleeping for hours. Another shake of the head and she focused on her pack-sister taking in the appearance she had seen in her awakening for the last few months. She was relatively new to the pack but Asdiza and she had become fast friends, her name was Kaliyah. Though she was a wolf like them her colorings were different, not nearly as bright as Asdiza and her mother, rather very dark along the top with lighter weavings near the bottom. Asdiza blinked against the appearance of her friend and attempted a small smile to entice her onward in speech, often Kaliyah needed such to be done.
“Your Father has called a meeting. We are to travel to the west to escape the humans…that is the rumor.” Her tail wagged as it normally did when she had gathered gossip and Asdiza smiled against her friend’s actions.
“Alright…let’s go then.” Asdiza replied and it would be the last words she ever exchanged with Kaliyah.
Asdiza sighed heavily against her reflection and the force of her breath was enough to cast her mirror image away. She lapped at the cold waters and felt a deep sense of refreshment as it touched the back of her throat and slid to her stomach. It provoked the question of how long it had been since her last drink but instead she focused on the thoughts she had of Kaliyah. That meeting was her pack’s last ever before Asdiza was taken and forced into this strange place. She could only hope that the others were spared a terrible fate as she had been but alas she never had any way of really knowing. The frame of the she-wolf sighed again as she rose her muzzle out of the water and sat by the beachside. Her tassel swished and her eyes moved against the current of the water but other than that her features gave no indication of the memory that pounded against her head just as the water fall did to the fresh flowing insipid below it.
