Uneasy pawsteps announced the arrival of the mother and her litter of four. The puppies were tumbling and playing with each other, simply enjoying the warmth. They had been born in the Grey Mountain Pack, simply arriving on the doorstep after Makato had carried her up the mountain. Heroic, Makato was. She missed him dearly, and it seemed her runt, Cesar, did as well. Light colored femme marched forward with determination, going back to hurry her pups along from time to time. This was a big change for the little group. Just as they were about to change directions, the smell of border marking wafted to the maiden's nose. Her gut gave an uneasy twist, before she gave each pup a tiny kiss. They would need to be good. She allowed them to go back a bit behind her, where she could hear them still, before she sat back, observing the area. Yes, it was beautiful. With an uneasy sigh, the femme threw her muzzle back into the air, letting loose a song to the Alphesse of the White Lake Pack.

ZENA Adrenaline pumped thru Zena's veins, her paws flying over the rocky path, pushing her farther and faster up the mountain side. The forest flashed by as she raced past familiar land marks to the territory she called home. The alien smell of new comers flooded Zena's nose as she advanced towards the border to meet her guest. The rugged path clawed at her feet, causing them to begin bleeding. Soon the trail subsided and she slid to a stop at the edge of the cliff that over looked the border. Her adroit eyes scanned the area checking for any signs of life. She lifted her nose allowing the wind to carry the scent to her. They have to be here somewhere, the smell is so fresh. She glanced over it a while longer, not finding anything, she headed down the side of the cliff. She followed the narrow path, carefully placing her feet on the ledge, sending rocks over the contour. The cliff was quite high, thirty or forty feet above the surrounding forest, but seemed like a never ending drop to Zena. Fear of falling pinged thru her skin, she bit her tongue and went forward, forcing herself not to look down. She lifted her head up to the sky, peering into the darkening sky, wondering where Roe was. Her mind raced, taking her back to the beach where she met had met the brute. He wasn't very welcoming at first but soon had her clinging to every word he spoke. She decided to continue and carefully took a step forward on the skinny shelf. In seconds the ground beneath her crumbled, sending her plummeting towards the base of the cliff. She plunged downwards, her screech thundering, causing a flock of ravens to flutter into the sky.The wind rushed out of her as her body collided into the earth. Her mind went black as she drifted into unconciousness, not moving, with rocks covering her body. .
((I think it's getting dark, right? "...peering into the darkening sky,..."))
Ramakrishna
Large, black paws cut through dense, dead grass. The cicadas began to buzz on the tall pines of the forest as the sun came out from the clouds again. This time was hot, and it was summer days like this that the large, black male cursed his own, thicker-than-average coat. He did so in his mind, for he did not want to go trudging through the lands letting every creature aware of his presence, and his tongue was too busy hanging from his parted jowls.
Promptly, Rama's throat became extremely dry, crying out for a lap at a cool stream. Unfortunately, this summer was not only hot, but it was also dry, and Ramakrishna hadn't passed a bed of water for some time now. The black male veered off from his original path to his left, collapsing underneath a heavily shaded fur tree. The shade was wonderful to get out of the blasting, scorching rays of the sun, but it wasn't very much. Rama sat up and dug the toasted pine needles out from under him. He then dug slightly deeper into the cool earth and then rested his body down, outstretched to cool down. Tongue still lolling, he put down his head and closed his silvery eyes. Perhaps he could sleep through this hot afternoon onto evening, and travel further during the cool air of night.
When black eyelids separated to reveal silvery-green eyes, the sky was darkening and the viciously hot sun would soon be no longer in sight. The large male yawned and sprawled his legs, tensing his muscles as he still lay on the earth. Then he rose to his haunches and peered around at his surroundings, being able to see fairly easily thanks to his nocturnal vision every wolf has. When he identified which way he had previously come from, he rose to his paws, shook the dirt and dead vegetation from his black coat and presumed his journey.
Not too much longer after continuing on, a crashing sound of rocks split through the still air along with what might have been a yelp, causing a flock of ravens near-by to caw and flap away, as well as make the the black male stop in his tracks, flip his ears around in caution, after a slight jump of surprise by the crowing ravens.
A moment after the crashing sound, the silver-eyed brute swiveled his ears to the direction he presumed the crash was in. It wouldn't have bothered him as much but the fact that he could have sworn he heard a yelp startled him and forced him to investigate. Thus, onward he traveled, trotting over the rocky hills and parched ground.

Roe had been on his way to see the fair Alphesse, Zena, when he heard the voice of an impatient mother trying to calm her pups down. "Hello, lass, how do you do?" he asked in the softest, least frightening vocals he could manage. She spun around to face him, her orbs bright and worried. Her words were jumbled together, stressed and obviously worried. As she had been waiting, there had been a crash and a yelp, before silence. The yelp had sounded feminine, she decided, and seemed to come from up above. Roe was very worried. "The camp is just up this camp, I do believe. Take your beloved's there, and I'll figure it out," He was worried, and with the sun on the set, he would need to move fast.
The maiden had taken off with a sigh and a bark to her pups, before Roe raced off toward the direction the mother had pointed. Pacing himself so he wouldn't tire, and the sun wouldn't fall too soon, he rushed forward, giving a call here and there. Suddenly, he saw a gap in the ridge above, that looked like it had fallen. He peered below it, to see a huge pile of rubble and rocks. He could see a bit of a familiar coat, as well. "ZENA!" he howled, before he raced down the uneven slope, tripping and stumbling many times before he came to the bottom, near the pile of rocks and stones. He shoved his nose in, and began to dig out the rocks.
The sun was barely visible when he finally removed all the rocks from the frail body. Cut and bruised badly, Roe nudged Zena. "Zena.. Zena, please wake up," he begged, his nose burying into her soft pelt, inhaling her familiar scent. A tear slipped down his cheek. She may not live. She needed him.

The image of the surrounding forest faded in and out as Zena tried to grasp consciousness. Her limp body felt as if it were floating, all feelings of pain subsided into a feeling of void numbness. She lay on her side, gazing up at the treeline with glassy eyes, shakily trying to lift her head. Her attempt was useless, her head fell back to the rocky earth. The sounds of the birds dissolved into a dull droning sound, her eyes beginning to roll back into her skull. Warm blood dripped down her sides, turning her silvery fur into a wet, matted mess. A tear drop rolled down her face, thinking back to Roe. How she wished he would be here at her side to comfort her. She shook the thoughts out of her mind, No damn it Zena. Don't you dare think like that! Your not going to die here. No, not now. Fight damn it! The sight of her surroundings faded more quickly this time, no matter how hard she fought it. Suddenly, the pressure of the crushing rocks were lifted, letting her unconscious body engulf a large breath of air. Roe's wet nosed rammed into her side, he stood over her crying out her name. Zena's unconscious mind stirred, she knew he was there, she wanted to jump up, scream, move, blink, something that would let him know she was alive! But, she had no control over her unresponsive body.
Roe's body was shaking with his sobs as he tried to control them. This was not like him. He could leave her. He should leave her. But he can't. He enjoyed Zena far too much. No, not love, no, not in this heartless brute. Something less, but, he would die if she died. He would have no one. Zena was far too important to him to let anything happen to her. He whispered her name a few more times, wishing he had come with her. Why hadn't he come with her? He had to be a dumb ass and run off and go meet Sacred and Shira. They weren't anything super special, no, not like Zena. They were nice. Zena was perfect. "Zena... Zena, please wake up!!" he begged, his voice shaking with sobs. "I shouldn't have left. I.. I should have stayed with you.. I'll never leave you again, I promise. Just.. Just please! Zena! Wake up!!" He begged, his knees shaking. He was so stupid. This was all his fault. He fell to her side, nudging her and whispering her name. She needed to wake up, to live. He'd never forgive himself.

Roe's cries woke Zena from her unconsciousness. Her glassy stare looked up into his desperate eyes, begging him to make the numbness, the pain, everything go away. She opened her mouth as if she was going to say something, but no words came out. She continued to hold her head up, her eyes beginning to show the pain and fear, trying to mouth a word out. save me, please. save me! Her thoughts screamed out, but her body fell back to motionless. She dropped her head, thudding as it hit the ground, her eyes rolling back again. Her vision of Roe began to blur, never had her cries for help been so quiet. The pool of blood began soaking further into her fur. She tilted her head up slightly, stuttering "Ra.. Roe... He- hel-p m.. ma me.."
Roe's heart stuttered when Zena lifted her head. She was alive! He was about to speak, when he realized her eyes were glassy and her mouth was open, waiting for words to come out. "Zena?" he asked, and her head dropped to the ground, with a thud that seemed to cause an earthquake, "ZENA!" he cried, and rushed forward, looking at her helplessly. He had no idea what to do! "Ra.. Roe... He- hel-p m.. ma me.." She whispered, her voice hoarse and raw. He didn't know what to do! Suddenly, the new maiden came to mind. With his large body, he managed to move her onto his back and race off. His pace was very even, keeping from moving or shifting Zena around too much. Her blood was soaking into his fur, but Roe didn't mind. He tried to create humour to calm himself down, "I hope you don't mind I sent a maiden that called to make herself at home. She could be helpful right now though," he chuckled half heartily, before he pushed faster. He could hear a mother, and placed Zena at her feet. His eyes were cruel and aggressive, daring her to pull something stupid. "Help her. Now."

Mai was settling in with her pups when suddenly, there was a thundering of paws outside. It was the brute from earlier. She began to speak, when she saw a maiden on his back. She was set at her feet, and the large brute snapped at her to help. She nodded uneasily and raced forward, stepping around him and herding her pups out, before she came back with moss, water, and some other flowers. She could heal well, it all came natural to her. She could tell this maiden would need some help. Wordless, she got to work, blocking out the ever hovering beast in front of her.
By the time the moon was high in the sky, the maiden was all patched up, her wounds cleaned. It had been a while, and now Mai was exhausted. A deep sigh escaped her maw before she looked up at the brute in front of her. "There, you brute. I fixed her up. Next time, I do caution, that you be more polite," Her orbs narrowed, daring him to say something. He looked at her, his orbs obviously worried, before he bent over to speak to the maiden, whispering the name Zena many times, willing her to wake up. This was the Alphesse! Mai glanced once more at the two of them, and stalked out, the look of the brute angering her further. They could talk and she would join later.

The tree line parted completely at the base of a crumbly cliff, exposing a small canyon of sorts, curving a few ways. The paths were only few and simple, curving only slightly, making it easy to navigate through the smaller cliffs and double back without confusion. Rama chose the way that sat off to his left first.
Thankfully he was correct on his first attempt to find the rubble of rocks, and sure enough, there was a body that laid underneath a pile of stones. The large male could see this from the distance, but quickly Rama saw a wolf pop up above and call down. This caused Rama to stay put for a moment, just in case this stranger was rogue and out for blood. Promptly after calling the stranger strode up to the pile and to the wounded's side. The black male watched intensely over the body in case the stranger had harmful intentions, but rightly after his appearance, it was clear that this male was beginning to mourn as he stuffed his nose in the wounded wolf's fur and sobbed.
Suddenly though, the body began to move after the rocks were removed by the stranger male. She looked up and requested help. At this moment, Rama was about to step and assist, but the male had managed to put the female on his pack and race away. Rama could the that blood was flowing rather heavily by the pools on the ground, marking their path. In a sense it was good, for it would be very easy to follow, which was what Rama had intentions of doing, but of course he didn't wish bad things on others just for and easy task for himself. When the male had trotted from sight, Rama picked up his paws and trotted after.
The large, solid male was brought to another female with pups. It appeared to be a small pack. He could see her working on the female that took the tumble from his hiding place in the thickets. He watched until the mother declared that she had finished. By this time it was pretty far into the night. Rama was a tad sleepy, but not so much where he could actually fall asleep. He almost decided to step in an introduce himself, maybe ask for a spot in, but he thought it best to lie low for a bit. He had probably approached without welcome and he knew that having some random, large male approach after one of their friends had fallen might be too much for one night.
Rama exhaled rather loudly from his nose-- not loud enough to be hard, especially from his distance-- and crossed his paws to rest his head down, to hopefully sleep his boredom away, despite his active feeling.

Zena yelped at the pull on her skin as Roe pulled her up onto his back. She wanted to scream, but knew that it would do no help so she bit her tongue and shut up. The sky grew darker and darker around them as the giant brute sprinted thru the forest with the smell of fear on him. Zena wanted to dig her nails into his back and tell him that he was going to attract bears if he kept up his frighted pup act. Her strength subsided and she fell back to her fading spirit. Warm blood dripped from her mouth and covered his ash-colored pelt. A few days later, obviously unaware of this, her eyes opened barely, just enough to let her see the world spinning around her. Strange scents of new wolves drifted past her, in a panic, her eyes widened in a split second searching for the intruders. In her wild attempt of trying to get up to see who was responsible for the unfamiliar scent, she fell to the ground landing on her shoulder, face planting into the ground. She growled "Who are you! whats going on! Where's Roe?!"
Curled up and lost in his own little world, Roe couldn't help but stare off into space. Zena was on his mind, as usual. His fear of her dying was slowly fading, as Mai said she would be healthy and happy in a few weeks time, and now Roe was just anxious to see her orbs open again, and hear her voice. That's all he could think about. Was he sick? Perhaps. Probably. He usually was sick, one way or another. He closed his orbs for a moment, listening to the playing of Mai's pups.
Mai was sitting just inside the den, carefully treating Zena's wounds. Suddenly, Zena jumped up, frightening Mai back. "Who are you! whats going on! Where's Roe?!" she growled, before she stumbled over. Immediately, Mai was at her side again. "Shh.. Zena.. Please, calm down. Roe is here, he's just outside. I'm Mausi, but call me Mai," She soothed, and slowly backed away, before she spun around to see Roe. "Roe! Zena's awake!" she called, and immediately the brute rushed past her and inside. With a sigh, Mai wandered off.
Roe was in a peaceful mindset when suddenly, Mai shouted his name. A quiet growl rose in his throat. He was just relaxing! Maybe her pups should hunt for themselves! They were old enough! But instead, she made his heart stop, and before he realized it, he was up and racing inside the den. "Zena! You're awake!" he cried, and planted his butt down in front of her, giving her nose a happy lick. He felt like a pup! Barely being able to sit still, he jumped up and danced around her, excited to see her awake again.
