Blood soaked through Makato's light maw, dying the light peach color to a bittersweet crimson. He tore through the tough skin easily, only impressing the Alphesse slightly. She was frustrated with this brute, who seemed to pass all the tests that proved he was a good wolf for the mountains.
After listening to Makato's gory story, the maiden nodded, her facade showing no reaction. Pity was not one for the femme to display, neither was affection. Simply companionship. With a nod, the dove spoke. "A brutal story indeed, but a good reason to leave. You could possibly join my pack as well, eh?" Her offer was not exactly the most visible, but suttle and hopefully not seeming like she was pushing it. With a deep breath, the Alphesse finished her hare until all that was left was it's blood that soaked her maw. She let her tongue slide around her maw, drinking all the blood that she could, but it still stained her alabaster coat. She stiffled a yawn to hide her exhaustion, knowing that it would be rude to let Makato think she was bored of her.
the past is a wonderful place to visit, but not to stay
Makato noticed that the femme didn't like to show any emotion, which only made him observe her expressions more, to see if there was any indication of when she felt pity or anger. He was glad though that she hadn't said anything about her being sorry, why should she? she didn't even know them, he was also glad that she didn't show pity towards him, he took it as the wolf thinking he was weak or that he needed their sympathy. She liked her maw, as he was eating the last bone, licking the blood of his muzzle he looked in her eyes as he spoke.
"It wasn't the most pleasant thing to be apart of, but there are always sacrifices, and wolves out there have experienced a lot worse." his voice was honest and held no self pity.
Makato thought before he answered her subtle question. "Yes, there is a chance. If you accept me, of course." The male-wolf sat down and waited for her to say the next thing, not wanting to be rude and speak when she was in the middle of asking questions and, sort of, interviewing him. His fur smoothed over his muscles as he made himself comfortable, while still in a sitting position.
The wind was howling loudly outside, and it gave the Alphesse the chills. The wind was the same as the day she left to go get food for her family, and it bothered her senses, making her fur stand on ends in fear, and, an troubled facade danced across her visage, before disappearing. Of course, Makato didn't need to worry about her past for now, even though he trusted her with his, he didn't need to worry about keeping himself in check. That was they way that the maiden always thought, never to bother them until you know them well enough. Either way, pity was not one for Placid to care for, and that's probably all she would end up with anyways.
When he finished his last bone, he mentioned something about sacrifices, and Placid carefully replaced the distressed look on her visage to another blank look. It wasn't one of boredom, but more one of caution not to let him meddle with her thoughts. He also continued, mentioning the fact he would be interested if she accepted him, in a very blunt fashion, giving the answer straight out. The femme nodded, a pleased tone covering her vocals as she spoke again, "Of course I will! I can give you a tour of the territory tomorrow, but for now, let's get some sleep, shall we?" The maiden laughed, and it nearly sounded like wind chimes in the soft breeze, before she motioned to the back of the den. Once he was asleep, she'd probably doze off too, but she had to keep him warm, anyway.
the past is a wonderful place to visit, but not to stay
As Makato heard the howling wind, he saw a look of sadness, maybe even pain, come across the femme's face, it did not disappear into a look like blank paper though. He studied her kindly, trying to read what was bugging her. As he mentioned sacrafices he could see something appear beneath her worried expression, in her eyes. A emotionless look came across her visage, he knew she was hiding something.. or maybe he had just crossed a line.
Placid had smiled at Makato's answer, a stunnngly beautiful smile. She had implied that she wanted to sleep, by telling him that he should rest. I was a cause of her smiles. And a honey like laugh! How could he not agree. Makato nodded and headed to the back of the den waiting Placid to lay down in her favourite pot and then he would lie down in a cozy spot himself. He watched her now bright face, how it made her fur look more white, and her eyes softer. He liked it better when she was happy, he decided. Fluffy, orange tail sweeped the ground as Makato waited for the Alphaness, to see if she had any other questions. Noticing that she did not make a move to lay down her layed down and curled up into a ball, after turning five circles, Makato rested his head on his paws and closed his eyes. Sleep came almost immediatly, he dreamed of him and his sister goofing around.
The rain pounded the top of her den, and it was soothing. Makato's rhythmatic breathing soothed her, and her orbs filled with unusual tears. Makato was so much like her youngest pup, who had died looking for her in the storm. With tears tricking down her visage, the quiet, mourning maiden moved to the entrance of the den, staring out into the rain and snow. No, she did not pity herself, but instead was sad beyond belief. This brute, her new pack member, Makato, was causing her grief. Not a terrible kind, either. The land of tears is a very special place, and the Alphesse knew. Her azure optics stared pointlessly into the storm as the femme attempted to call her mind, attempted to end this pain. She needed to restart. That's all that mattered. A long, sad whine slipped out of her maw, followed by a sad sigh before the maiden spun around and looked back at Makato. She padded over to him and laid on his right side, curling into him and allowing her alabaster coat to cover part of him, sharing their heat together. She would have to get more comfortable with such close courters, having pack members to share warmth with was a smart idea in storms and cold winters. Her sleep came uneasy, filled with lost dreams that should have never been born.
the past is a wonderful place to visit, but not to stay
Makato heard a whine escape the maiden's throat, but he did not wake. His slumber was deep. He felt the warmth of Placids body next to his. That was all he remembered until the next day.
Makato awoke early the next morning, but did not move for he didn't want to wake Placid from her sleep. Last night she had been restless and kicked him a few times, nothing he wasn't use to with his siblings. He also felt her fur over him, how their bodies fit perfectly together. It didn't feel awkward to him, and he hoped it didn't for her. he opened his eyes and studied the den more clearly, in daylight it looked so welcoming to him. It didn't remind him at all of his childhood den, their den was dug out of the earth and, when his father was still with his mother, had moved rocks over to create a sort of entrance. The calmness lulled Makato back to sleep.
