Walking through the new territory, Makato looked around for Placid, hoping to show her his fresh kill, her favourite a mountain goat. He hadn't even been out on a hunting trip at the time, simply wandering around memorizing details and dangers, when he came across a large brute goat. Remembering that they were Placid's favourite, he fought a brutal battle for the food, he was hoping to please Placid.
Still looking around for Placid, Makato walked into the sleeping chamber. "Placid? You in here?" even though the ferice storm had past and it was sunny out, the quarters were still quite dark. His eyes adjusted almost immediately, though, seeing her presence wasn't here, Makato walked out and trotted on to the next spot he knew. His ears alert for any signs of her, his eyes searched the land. He had left the kill in the food storage den, covering any trail of blood, he didn't want to attract unwanted visitors. Makato continued his search. Da**, it's tricky to spot her in this white abyss. he muttered to himself, his excitment was slowly fading. "Placid! Placid where are you?" Makato called out.
Wandering about the dense forest of her packlands, the ivory femme moved at a brisk pace, trying to keep the chill from her slim body. Although her coat was longer, grown and created perfectly for warmth, the femme still had to at least give a little aide to the pelt. With a slow yawn, the femme let her mind wander a bit. Of course, it travelled straight to Makato, her newest, and only, pack member of the moment. How was he doing? She was honestly curious as to how he was. He reminded her a bit of her late-pup, and she found him adorable in a brotherly way.
Small harks straining to catch a sound, she could hear Makato's voice, "Placid! Placid where are you?" It called loudly, his voice carrying through the air. The femme knew he was nearby, and she padded over to the general area of his lyrics. She saw him through the trees, and peeked out. "Makato? Right here," The maiden giggled, her mood high and joyous. With a playful growl, she flung herself at him, pouncing on his back and nibbling his ears, before she tumbled off with another giggle. She may seem mental, but she was in a playful mood. She laid on her side, and stretched out a mitt, prodding his shoulder with it, begging for him to play. Of course, Yiska was on her mind again.
Makato heard her before he saw her. Placid poked her head out and replied to Makato's call out, then attacked her, in a playful manner. This reminded him of Rosie, which sent a look of pain acrossed his face, it was replaced by joy almost as soon as it appeared. Placid nibbled on his ears then rolled around on to her side and hit his shoulder wanting him to play too.
Rolling around to face Placid, Makato batted her paw away and then pulled her ear gentle. He pawed her snout, and looked in her orbs. She looks like she is thinking. I wonder what about. Forgetting about the reason why he had called her, Makato wanted to play now. His excitment retured, and with it came happiness.
"Why are you so happy all of a sudden?" Makato questoined, not really caring why, he just was happy to see her excited and looking like a playful pup. "You look cute when your happy." Makato stated, suddenly realizing that she might take that in the wrong way and that she didn't seem to like flattery, he blushed, turning his light orange face a strawberry red colour.
The playful Alphesse nipped the orange wolf's nose, before she danced away. Her joy? Her joy came from Yiska. Another smile lit up her maw for a minute, as she spoke, "Well, you see, there's a new... Alpha of the pack..." Her voice was bouncy and joyous, obviously happy, a tinkling laugh breaking from her throat when he commented about how cute she was when she was happy. On to the next subject as she batted his ear with her paw, "How would you like to be a beta? Like, a second in command?"
the past is a wonderful place to visit, but not to stay
Makato couldn't help but smile at her giggles. When Placi told him the answer, the smile faltered. He just nodded, the sparkle of joy, gone from his eyes. He could tell that she was happy, even if it was no longer because of him. Why couldn't I bring a smile like that to her visage? Why couldn't I be the reason for her girly-giggles?He looked in her eyes quickly, then brought his orbs away, hie didn't want her to see the pain in them, the happines in his no longer warm eyes disappeared. Makato was glad that their wasn't a lake around, he didn't want to see this face, it wasn't him, it was like his flame burnt out. Of course he forced a smile, hoping it didn't look as fake as it felt. "That's great! I'm happy for you" His voice didn't falter. "Will you be the Beta, like the second in command?" she had asked so innocently, how could he turn it down? "Sure. I'm not much good at being really serious though." His voice went unwavered.
The alabaster maiden watched Makato's reply, and her face fell when his happy smile disappeared, his orbs avoiding hers. "Makato? Are you.. Did I say something?" Her words faltered, afraid of losing a friend, a good friend. She nuzzled him in attempt to comfort him. She had no idea what brought the sudden sadness, but instead she decided she'd comfort her friend. Behind his happy, unfaltering voice, his facade was fake, not a happy smile but instead one that lied. She was no good with words, but she could read expressions and understand them. What had she said.. The Alphesse thought hard on what she could have said, when suddenly it hit her! She mentioned Yiska becoming the Alpha, her mate. Could that have upset Makato? Confusion swept behind her mind, but her facade continued to show worry for her friend.
Of course, Makato would accept. He wouldn't want to hurt her, would he? No, not the same way it seems she hurt him. The femme ignored the Beta comment for now, she would get back to that later. "Makato? Please, please don't be upset!"
the past is a wonderful place to visit, but not to stay
Makato could tell Placid could see right through his feeble facade. He smiled, as un-fake as he could muster. "No, no it's fine.. I'm just.. um.. tired" he faked a yawn. He nuzzled her back, taking in her scent. Taking a deep breath Makato continued on, he feared that if he stopped, his voice might falter and he wouldn't be able to get it back. "It's fine. I'm all good, just tired from the hunt." Suddenly remembering his accomplished kill, really joy spread over his face. Quickly, it faded into a little excitment but no more than that, for he reminded himself that he wasn't suppose to impress her anymore. "I-I have a surprise for you back at the den.... That's why I was calling for you." Makato spoke in a quiet voice. Clearing his throught, Makato jumped to his feet, without any of his usually spunk, he pawed at her then tilted his head towards their territory. No! Not OUR territory hers and her mates... I'm just a tag along. "You wanna see it?" Makato avoided the topic of her new mate. I should be happy for her! Atleast try to be! This is her chose, you don't always get what you want... If it was meant to be this wouldn't have happened.. Out there somewhere is my love... I cant quit at a bump in the road, no matter how big..... Smiling at Placid, Makato gave her one last paw to the shoulder and bounded off, trying to hide the fact that his usually agile footing was faltering alittle.
Oh no. His smile was still feeble, hiding more, but just to humor him, Placid pretended to believe him. Something to show her? Oh boy. She bounded after him, over taking him easily. She bumped her shoulder with his, before bounding by at a quick pace. She had no idea where they were going, but their general direction was toward the camp, so that's where she went. "What? What is it?" the femme asked excitedly.
the past is a wonderful place to visit, but not to stay
Makato seemed to forget about the whole Yiska thing, and bounded off easily catching her. He was ahead by a pace or two, but just to show where they were going. His smile was real this time, his aility was back, gracefulness overtook him. Turning towars the storage den Makato slowed to a trot. "It's in there. I think you'll like it." He nodded his head towards the food den. Makato waited for the pretty maiden to enter the chamber, so she could see what he had brought her back. His joy slipped away, when he remembered, he wasn't the cause for most of Placid's joy and excitment, she was also, for certain, thinking about Yiska... Shaking his dome, trying to straighten his thoughts. What's gotten into you? You haven't cracked a single joke? You aren't your normal happy, humoris self? Get over it. angerly asking himself those questions, Makato sat down.
As they neared the storage, Placid sped up. The smell of fresh kill was.. Well.. Fresh! She was excited to see what it was that her new beta had hunted. She smiled as she entered the den, a large crack into the ground, the smell of fresh mountain goat the smell that hit her. She looked around, realizing that the new kill was Makato's kill! He had hunted all of this mountain goat, and wanted to show her. It was obvious that the maidens favorite food WAS mountain goat, and it was the most fun to hunt. You had to be intelligent, and that's why she enjoyed it. She smiled a wider smile, her mind on the wonders of how he got so much! The femme bounded out of the den and attacked Makato playfully, her tail whipping back and forth happily. "Oh Makato!! I love it!" She laughed, before she climbed off him. She was getting tired and ready for a good night's sleep, but she would wait until Makato was done talking with her.
Seeing her smile, Makato laughed with joy. When Placid tackled him, Makato pawed her nose softly. "I guess you like it?" Makato's voice was strong and happy. As long as I can be her friend, I'm happy. Makato knew he would still feel a pain of jealousy when he saw Placid and her new mate together, but it would get better over time.
Makato stood up, stretched, and let out a slight yawn. There was no fakeing involved in this one though. His kind eyes studied hers, as if searching for something. Smiling Makato pawed at Placid. "You tired?" Looking at Placid, Makato tilted his head, making his ears flop over.
He pawed her nose and asked if she was happy. Of course she was! It was her favourite food in whole wide world, and he hunted loads of it. She smiled, "Of course I am! You hunted loads of my favourite food. Am I supposed to be mad?" She joked, and stood up straight.
Tired. Very indeed, the Alphesse was. "Yes, I am indeed. But if you humour me, I will stay. Otherwise, I'm going to see if Yiska is back from the forest," The Alphesse told Makato.
the past is a wonderful place to visit, but not to stay
Makato smiled at her first reply. " Yes your suppose to be furious! Just kidding, I'm glad you like it. Mountain Goats are always fun to hunt, it's a new adventure every time." his goofy, and charming smile was filled with joy. His warm carmel eyes held a spark again.
The corner of Makato's lips dipped a bit, but he kept his composure. His eyes studied her small ears instead of her orbs. Knowing that she was happy with this male-wolf, he didn't want to break that or try and turn her off of Yiska. "Go on ahead. I know your excited to see Yiska. Go have fun." He managed to still keep the joy in his voice, Makato made a mental note to work on making a better facade. He didn't want others to know his problems, when he didn't want them to.
The she-wolf smiled a soft smile, laughing at his tiny joke. A new adventure. She's never really thought about it that way. She nodded, thoughtful. "Yes, I am furious. A new adventure for you, me being furious?" She teased, knowing it really wasn't. She had been furious at him before, when he had been a harmless intruder. She smiled at the memory.
The ivory femme yawned, tired from her long day. Makato had just dismissed her, and she knew if she left, she wouldn't be coming back. She was just so exhausted! She smiled. "Well, since I don't plan on coming back, I might as well say good night then," the dove whispered, "Good night, Makato," she smiled softly as she turned away, before she began to walk slowly to her den.
the past is a wonderful place to visit, but not to stay
Smiling Makato looked in the femme's eyes, so bright and happy they were. "Not a completely new experience, but then again you didn't have the pleasure of knowing me when you were furious the first time." He nudged Placid playfully. A yawn escaped his mouth. "Well good night, have a nice sleep. If you need anything, just call."
Makato watched Placid leave, thinking about the first time they had met. He smiled at the thought and trotted away in the other direction. He wanted an adventure down the mountain before he even thought about sleep.
