It had been a quick travel across the desert to reach the oasis, and now Remus was moving slowly onto the growing grass, hobbling Shira leaning on his shoulder. His movements were slow, but full of energy and determination to get Shira to where she needed to be. Safe. His orbs were slowly closing in exhaustion, but he kept moving. He hardly noticed Shira leaning on his shoulder now at all, and it hardly bothered him, but it was still comforting knowing that she wouldn't be able to leave him without putting in some effort.
The moon was still bright, about halfway in the sky, meaning it was just about midnight. Good. He still had some time to rest before morning came. The stars were bright and shining eagerly, full of energy from their resting day. The oasis' soft grass was cushioning his sore paws, and the large trees that provided shade in the day made him eager to stay here awhile. All around, there were nocturnal animals out and about, many of them hiding as the pair of wolves padded by. He could hear the familiar thundering of the water, and moved with more energy than before, hoping it wasn't too fast for Shira.
"We're here,"
the past is a wonderful place to visit, but not to stay
She had let Remus lead her across the desert. It was late now and she was very much tired. Her ears caught the sounds of prey moving about as the desert disappeared and being replaced by fresh grass and trees. Upon hearing Remus say that had reached their destination she smirked and picked up the scent of water and kept pace with Remus.
When they reached the small waterfall she stopped and dipped her head down drinking the cooling liquid for a moment then she lifted her head looking around for a moment then back at Remus before moving a bit from the pool of water she curled up saying "Thanks for helping me again, Remus"
Shira's slowing, tired pace told Remus he wasn't the only one that was tired. He smiled. The pair approached the water, and Shira bent to lap at the chilly water. He followed her every move, and took a little sip, but stopped the moment Shira did, only taking a tiny bit of the cold liquid onto his tongue, and sucked it down slowly. He turned to look at Shira who was now curling up. He looked up at the sky, and realized that when morning came, the sun would beat down on her.
"Thanks for helping me again, Remus"
Her voice seemed loud in the quiet night, and took a minute for Remus to understand it. He nodded, and then reached toward her. He managed to pull her up onto his back slowly, and began to move slowly under a large tree, that would surely protect her from the sun and any rain.
"There you go. Now you're safe and sound. Get some rest. There'll be food when you wake up,"
His voice was soft, like a mother talking to a young pup. He nuzzled her, in a friendly fashion, and then turned to go find some food before morning came. His movements were quiet, and he felt a bit more awake after drinking some water. He soon found a unaware rabbit that was bouncing around, and managed to catch it, even in his tired state. He tore off a leg and ate a piece, and brought the rest back. He was about to get a quick drink of water when he noticed a type of desert squirrel that seemed to just be going to sleep, when he rushed and killed it quickly. He brought that back. Good. Now they had some breakfast. Remus got a quick drink of water, and moved groggily back to Shira, curling up beside her for the night. His eyes drooped closed and he slept soundlessly.

Her eyes were getting heavy with sleep and she let Remus pick her up and move her to a more shaded spot. "There you go. Now you're safe and sound. Get some rest. There'll be food when you wake up," she heard him say and she smiled at his friendly nuzzle. She laid her head down on her paws and watched him turn away to go hunt. She yawned once more before letting her eyes close.
"Shira your brother, Karvo wants to see you" she heard one of the warriors, Noa from the pack whisper in her ear. She yawned and got up and followed the male through the night into the forest. When they stopped she looked around saying "Where is he?" "Just wait here...I'll see if I can find him" Noa replied tracking her brother's scent off away from her. After about a hour of waiting she listened as several howls split the air. None she knew.
Her head whipped around seeing the wolves rushing toward her. Shira took off and then ran straight into Karvo. "Karvo!..There are..." she trailed off as his teeth pierced her scruff and he slung her away. She tumbled across the ground and got up quickly as he growled "You'd better run" Then he leaped toward her...
"NO!" Shira yelled flashing her eyes open as she jumped. She looked around quickly moving away from Remus. Her eyes searched for her half brother as she turned to face Remus but steadily back away. Then she yelped as she fell backwards into the small pool of water.
Remus had been having a quiet sleep, after having a full stomach, and having drank enough water, his body was content. Although he still dreamt.
In his dream, the heir from his first pack was sitting in front of him, staring at him in a loving way. She was sitting above him, on a large rock, but her eyes were down, meeting his. Her mouth moved slowly, although no words came out. A teasing grin plastered against her face, and suddenly, her face changed. It was sickening how it did, as if it were being acidic and melting. She was replaced by her father, and he jumped down, sinking his teeth into Remus' throat.
Remus woke with a start.
"NO!"
Shira's voice broke the silence of sleep, and immediately, Remus spun around. Shira steadily began to back away from him, and fell into the pool of water. The womanizing brute realized that Shira had had a bad dream, just by the way she was acting. His movements slow, as though not to scare her, he moved towards her, pawstep after pawstep.
"Shira? Are you alright?"
His voice was soft as he approached her finally, and laid down on the little bit of sand that surrounded the water, his head on the ground.

"Shira? Are you alright?" she heard Remus's voice as she got out of the pool of water. She sat down looking at him her fur drenching wet. Her eyes searched around in the daylight now shining down. Then she stood up shaking her fur and watched Remus lay down after coming up to her. She sighed calmly and walked to him and sat down beside him. Her paw was hurting as much as had been before. "Sorry I woke you" she said softly. Her eyes did a quick glance around still cautious from her nightmare.
Shira climbed out of the water, still soaking wet. Remus gave her a wry smile. She sat down beside him, her coat dripping water. She would dry quickly in the heat and the pounding sun. She would be fine.
"Sorry I woke you"
Shira apologized. Remus looked up at her, and smiled.
"You're fine. I was woken by my own dreams, anyway. Did you have a bad dream?"
He watched her expressions carefully, wanting to read it so he could help her in any way possible. He smiled encouragingly.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
He already knew it was a bad dream, so he offered it. Talking helped.

I just...I don't..." she trailed off looking away then back at him for a moment seeing his encouraging smile before hearing him say "Do you want to talk about it?" She breathed in standing up and walked back to the pool of water and sat down. "Even in my dreams I can't get away from my brother...well half brother. Before coming to these lands I had joined his pack"
She closed her eyes the scene replaying in her mind and she shivered. [color=e6ad6c"I...he attacked me out of nowhwere. He actually was going to kill me"[/color] she said her ears going back as she shook her head.

Walk! | Talk! | Think! | Word Count: 000

Remus watched her expressions carefully, and watched her look down. "Yea. I just...I don't..." She stared slowly, and Remus felt pity for the girl. Not usually something he enjoyed feeling, but it was there. She had it rough, and she was awfully shy. It just didn't feel right to Remus for her to have that kind of life. His head shot up to look at her as she finished. "Even in my dreams I can't get away from my brother...well half brother. Before coming to these lands I had joined his pack" She continued, and stood up, her movements beautiful to Remus' eyes. He watched as she sat down and stared down at the water. He moved towards her slowly, and watched her, listening, his facade unreadable. "I...he attacked me out of nowhwere. He actually was going to kill me" She finished her story, and Remus sat up, no longer looking at her, but toward the waterfall, watching the cold, white bubbles float as the falling water hit the pool with plenty of force. He stared at it for many seconds.
"I'll never let him hurt you, Shira. You can forget him now," His words were soft, but deep beneath them, one could hear unforgivable rage. How could a wolf hate another wolf so much, without even hearing them? The thought of this wolf hurting Shira brought Remus more pain than he had ever experienced. His eyes stayed focused on the waterfall, and he watched it's repetitive pattern.

Shira continued tostare at the water till she heard him say "I'll never let him hurt you, Shira. You can forget him now," Binking she looked at him then away from him shyly.
Then before she could think she brushed her cheek against his saying softly "Thanks Remus. I haven't met anybody really that cares for me." She smiled then stepped back saying "Sorry" Looking toward the ground. Her nose twitched as she decided to change the subject "You brought back something to eat"

Walk! | Talk! | Think! | Word Count: 000

Remus continued to stare hard at the waterfall, his emerald eyes hard, resembling ice with how cold they looked. Suddenly, Shira brushed her cheek against him, and smiled. "Thanks Remus. I haven't met anybody really that cares for me." She murmured, and Remus looked down at her, his eyes melting to a soft expression, his expression filled with adoration for this sweet wolf that sat beside him. Carefully, making sure it was in the right spot, he made a little place in his heart for little Shira. Suddenly, she apologized, and jumped up, realizing he had brought her back food. Remus jumped up to his feet. His heart was hammering in his chest. A saying he had always lived by was that twenty seconds of foolish courage could gain anything. Those twenty seconds started now. His orbs were soft, and he stared into Shira's. "Why are you apologizing, you crazy beautiful girl. I love you. I know, I didn't think it was possible, but I do. You drive me crazy. I promise this is the truth," His words were soft and buttery, but came out smooth and gentle. A smile lit up his maw, and he moved toward her, his eyes not leaving hers.

Her golden eyes stared in his own as he said "Why are you apologizing, you crazy beautiful girl. I love you. I know, I didn't think it was possible, but I do. You drive me crazy. I promise this is the truth," The words repeated in her head for a moment before she grasped it. Blinking she slightly shook her head stepping back as she said "W...what?"'Did he just admit what I think he did?' she thought.
Confused she tensed her body but she saw the gentle smile on his maw as he moved forward. Shira couldn't help the small shy smile that started to appear on her own face. Sitting down she said softly "You really do love me?" It was weird though because it was only hours ago they had just met.

Walk! | Talk! | Think! | Word Count: 000

Remus watched as Shira backed up, her head shaking. Remus stared at her in terror. Did this mean she didn't feel the same. A feeling of rejection began to build onto his chest. She spoke. "W...what?" She gasped, and Remus immediately stepped backwards, ready to run away if she rejected him. He didn't know if he could just leave her, but he would try. He would. This was all so crazy for him. Ten seconds. "You really do love me?" She asked softly, and Remus quickly realized that he only had seven seconds left.
"Yes, yes. I know; its crazy. Only a few hours ago we met; but you've changed me so much. I will keep changing for you if that's what you need. Please, give me a chance," His voice was nearly pleading. He hoped that he could deem himself worthy. No, he wasn't asking to be her mate, not that yet. But he wanted to prove to her that his affection is the best kind, and that he can care for her until her paw is better, and much longer after that.
